To become a fully qualified car driver you must first pass two 2 tests; the theory test and the practical test. Both of these tests are devised by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA).
These tests were founded on the principle that it's always better to teach people road safety over anything else. In simpler terms, although it's okay to have the best life insurance out there, the goal is still to push the day you'll need it as far as possible.
1) The Theory and Hazard Perception Test
This must be passed first. You cannot apply for the practical test until you have done so. You can sit the theory test at any time and as many times as you like, even before you take any driving lessons. The theory test is in two parts: - The Hazard Perception test is a computer based test to assess how well you can recognise and respond to hazards on the road. It comprises of a drivers eye view of a number of road situations. You are required to click a mouse when you see a hazard or developing hazard. The pass mark is 44 out of 75. The Multiple Choice is a touch screen computer test where you’ll be asked 50 questions about the highway code. The pass mark is 43 out of 50.
